TORO will be the main sponsor of the European Golf Business Conference 2009, from 2-4 December in Amsterdam. TORO is also preferred supplier of turf maintenance equipment and irrigation to the EGCOA.

One of the most discussed subjects in golfing industry is the rate of VAT levied on a round of golf and the often huge variances in duty between proprietary clubs and member clubs. In GME's May edition, the EGCOA claims that it is time for new legislation.

The golf business magazine Golf Management Europe (GME) and the EGCOA have signed an agreement at the 3^rd European Golf Business conference in Berlin on the 6^th of November.  In the future, the EGCOA will get coverage in every issue of Golf Management Europe Magazine and the magazine will be sent to all members of the EGCOA.

The new electronic brochure which describes the Certified Club Manager program for club managers in Europe is now online. It is possible for EGCOA members to join the CCM program. If you have attended EGCOA conferences, you will be able to earn credits towards certification.

Former European Tour director Ken Schofield has received the annual EGCOA Award at the European Golf Business Conference this month in Berlin.

Following the first reading of the EU Proposed Framework Directive on Pesticides, the mailing action of the EGCOA to all MEP’s seems to have been successful. The initial proposal was to ban the use of all pesticides in public area’s and sports pitches, which would also have affected Golf courses.
